Hi Christine! We’re so glad you’re loving your juicer! If your juicer suggests adding ingredients from softer to harder, then it’s likely to keep it running as efficiently as possible. That’s also one of the reasons to cut up the ingredients a bit more—to help the juicer do it’s job well without having to work too hard! The best thing to do is read your owner’s manual and follow the recommendations there for how best to prep and add your ingredients to your juicer. I hope that helps, and happy juicing!

I got a Breville juicer for Christmas and made my first one today, “Green Goddess” which was very tasty and refreshing. It felt so healthy, like when I used to treat myself to wheat grass shots occasionally. I appreciate your explanation of the pros/cons/differences between centrifugal and masticating juicers, and will try kale leaves in my Breville (centrifugal) anyway just to see how it turns out.
I do have a few questions though: can you explain why it’s important to juice the ingredients in the order they’re listed (i.e. softer ingredients before harder ones?) and why cut up the ingredients so much (i.e. apple cut into eighths instead of quarters or halves)? Thank you again!

Hi Billie! To us, the biggest drawback is the annoyingness of filtering out the pulp! But if it works for you, it works! As long as your immersion blender is powerful enough to break everything down, you should be good to go. You may need to add a bit of water or be more conscious of which fruits and veggies you blend first to make sure there’s enough liquid in there. Let us know how it works out for you!

I do have a hand immersion blender that works great with juices like celery juice and I just filter out the pulp. What are the benefits/drawbacks of this method with these juices? Like should I not filter out the pulp in certain ones? Any advice would be great!

Hi, Sonja! The juice should freeze fine. If you find that any separates when you thaw it, you can always give it a good shake in a jar or a quick stir to mix it all back up. Hope this helps!
