Is this witches’ brew recipe kid-friendly?

Absolutely! Witches’ brew is a fantastic treat for kids and adults alike. While it may sound mysterious and spooky, the recipe we’re sharing today is non-alcoholic, making it perfect for youngsters. It’s a wonderful way to get creative with your little ones in the kitchen, allowing them to embrace their inner witches and wizards. Plus, the eerie smoke effect is sure to leave them in awe!

What is a witches’ brew made of?

We kept this witches’ brew fairly simple, with three main ingredients: lime sherbet, lemon-lime soda, and pineapple juice.

But if you want to make it even more festive, try adding some green food coloring for a more witchy green and gummy worms or gummy eyeballs for garnish. Want the creepy smoke effect? That’s from dry ice—more on that in a bit!

How do you make this witches’ brew recipe?

Grab your cauldron (ahem, punch bowl), and let’s get brewing!

  1. Scoop the sherbet into the punch bowl. Add a few drops of food coloring if you’d like.
  2. Pour the soda and pineapple juice over the sherbet.
  3. Add dry ice and/or gummy candy if you’re using them.

Creating the spooky smoke effect

Ah, the pièce de résistance! The spooky smoke effect is what sets this witches’ brew apart from the ordinary. To achieve this enchanting aura, you’ll need to know some safety rules:

Safety First!

  • Always remember that dry ice can be dangerous if mishandled. Wear heavy-duty gloves and use tongs to handle it.
  • Do not eat the dry ice. It is there for the smoke effect only and is not safe to consume.
  • Make sure your guests know not to drink the dry ice. For kids, we recommend leaving the dry ice in the punch bowl, not the individual cups.

How do I make this alcoholic?

For the adult crowd looking to add a bit of enchantment to their evening, transforming your witches’ brew into an alcoholic potion is a snap. Add two cups of vodka to the punch bowl for a grown-ups-only party, or add a splash of vodka to the adult cups for a mixed crowd. Just remember to drink responsibly and designate a broomstick-riding sober witch to keep everyone safe!

Can I make this witches’ brew recipe in advance?

Sorry, but this is one recipe that you won’t want to make until right before your guests walk through the door. The sherbet will start melting relatively quickly, so it is best to make this one directly before serving.
