Peanut Butter and Jelly Protein Smoothie

To help with recovery after a long day out on our hobby farm, I’ve been trying really hard to make sure I consume a heavy hand of protein to help my muscles rebuild (and prepare for the next day of hard work). Good, quality protein helps your body recover.

Enter the snack of choice in our house right nowโ€”a peanut butter and jelly smoothie.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Protein Smoothie

Smoothies are fast (great when you’re swamped), they are refreshing (which is awesome considering we’ve apparently skipped right past Spring here and are rockin’ Summer temps), and a great vehicle for all kinds of healthy, nutritious add-ins. And if you pay attention to your ingredients, you can get an entire, balanced drink in a glass! I’m all for sitting down and eating something delicious (with cheese, preferably), but sometimes, a drinkable snack is exactly what you need.

Whenever I’m building my meal-style smoothiesโ€”especially when I’m hurting from some shovelingโ€”I work hard to make sure they really pack in the protein. Peanut butter and Greek yogurt do a lot of the heavy lifting, but I do add a little protein powder too. I don’t use a lot of it, but I do like to keep a container of good quality, organic protein powder around for when I need that extra protein boost.

This peanut butter and jelly protein smoothie has been standard in our house for a while nowโ€”and it’s made a resurgence with all of our work outside. We’re working through the very last of our frozen strawberries (strawberry season is soon, yay!), so this is a great smoothie to help us clear out our deep freezer for the season and recover enough so we can get all those plants in the ground to help us fill it back up with goodies!

Enjoy.

    1. Hi Sheri! These totals are automatically calculated in our system, and sometimes specialty ingredientsโ€”I’m looking at you, scoop of protein powderโ€”can throw off the totals. This calorie count is definitely one of those! We’ll look into it on our end, but in the meantime, you can plug the exact ingredients you’re using into your favorite online nutrition calculator for better results. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention! We’ll work to get it sorted =)

  1. I’ve never tried Sunwarrior protein. I’ll take a look. I usually use hemp protein as it has a good nutrition balance and body handles it well. nice pictures on your site. -Anna

  2. Can I come work with you?? I love that kind of manual labor, put me in a yard and I can get it done. And that feeling you describe, it’s such a good type of tired isn’t it? Love this smoothie! Will check out that protein powder, looking for something new.

  3. This looks soo refreshing!

Lately, my meal of choice in the mornings have been Protein Smoothies! So, easy to make and they hit the spot! Love them as a post-workout too. Yay! for protein smoothies!

    1. Ah, you are right! Sunwarrior does have some really great organic products thoughโ€”I just got confused. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. This is the kind of thing I LOVE to make for my babies too after an afternoon in the sun or a day at school (whoever thought 7 hours away from mom at age 7 was a good idea is nuts…). It fills them up and keeps them happy until I can get dinner on the table without someone begging for treats 20 minutes before things are done. I can’t wait to try this!

  5. That’s a super-protein smoothie with the greek yogurt added! I like hemp protein powder which also has a whopping 1 ingredient, but I’ve been interested in trying Sun Warrior. I’ve heard only good things about their products.
